Born and raised in the Chicago area, Teri Silva received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1974 and Master of Fine Arts degree in Ceramics in 1981 from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Teri's professional experience includes eight years of teaching ceramics at Loyola University of Chicago and other Colleges there. After moving to Sedro-Woolley in 1987 Teri continued to show her work nationally as well as here in Washington State. After teaching 1992-1995 at Skagit Valley College Teri opened her Sedro-Woolley studio to students of many levels and interests. She now offers classes through her studio in all aspects of clay including sculpture and pottery.

The Crows: "For the past three years the image of the crow and all its associated notations and lore has held my interest. Each fall large numbers of crows gather in the woods next to my studio. For weeks they fly as a group circling overhead at dusk, flying uphill against the wind, expending large amounts of curious energy. In the morning several study me from the thin tops of cedars and all day I see their shadows moving overhead. I note their ubiquitous shapes, on fences, perched on the phone wires, in town (eating fries on the road). And now they are in the studio perching on the rims of pots, playing games on lids, reading books and living a clay crow life. Feel free to bring what you already know about their stories and myths to these images, in this way you, the viewer, may complete my work" says Teri.
