I haven’t touched ‘pan pastel’ in almost 10 years,
so it was interesting to invite an old friend back in
to see how new pathways would respond
to a forgotten medium

The one who trips us up is the same one who catches onto the pattern.

it’s usually this kid that I draw
with the homemade haircut
whenever I draw a child from imagination

he comes up to the surface
and plays in the toolbox of shapes
that an older me has since collected
makin

A foggy mind
in a glowing setting

Drawing 2 models from life
with the timer running

A brain that doesn’t want to soften
so we have to go wide
skirt along the edges
stay until the end

out of all the fumbling

If weather and schedule permits,
I go paint at the Saturday morning market.
(inverting my studio outside as I call it.)

I 100% have no clue what I’m going to paint before I get there.
I have a coffee and take notes for ~15 minutes with a sket

it didn’t feel finished
but a past me set a timer for future him,
because the three of us do not know when to stop
